Silica needle felt
Apronor >
Made from needled silica fibres, this technical felt is known for its excellent insulating properties and high-temperature resistance, up to 1000°C. Available in 3 thicknesses in our Apronor catalogue – 6 +/- 1; 10 +/- 1; 25 +/- 1 – it is suitable for many applications. Packaged in rolls, it is easy to handle and cut. It can be adapted to different shapes.
A high-quality, long-term product, silica needle felt is fireproof. This is why it is often used in the manufacture of fire barriers and protective equipment for welding or grinding work, for example.
Silica fibre, a high-temperature resistant material
Silica fibre is a high-performance, inorganic material known for its reliability and properties:
- insulating;
- fireproof;
It also has very low thermal conductivity and does not absorb moisture. It is also known for its resistance to high temperatures. It can withstand extreme temperatures up to 1000°C without shrinking.
To produce this felt, the silica fibre was needled mechanically, without the addition of binders. The filaments are therefore homogeneous and non-porous. This flexible, compact product is chemically stable and odourless. It does not give off toxic smoke either, as its manufacturing process is environmentally respectful. This excellent white insulator also features :
- good sound absorption ;
- high thermal stability ;
- its resistance to vibration, which it reduces;
- high mechanical strength.
Applications of this technical insulating felt
Le feutre aiguilleté de silice convient à des applications industrielles car il résiste à des températures élevées. Chez Apronor, nos clients l’utilisent notamment pour :
- thermal insulation ;
- acoustic insulation ;
- filtration ;
- smoke purification ;
- dust recycling in industry…
It also can be used in a variety of heat sources. It is therefore frequently present in boiler compensators and catalytic supports for heating systems, for example, filtration fields and insulation for engines and industrial furnaces. The multiple uses of this covering make it very attractive, and an indispensable felt for high-temperature insulation and as a replacement for asbestos.
